“The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.”

Your mother is the only person in this world who loves and cares for you without the greed of any reward or payback except love from your side. She is the one who support and protects you and provide a strong shelter. She deserves a special treatment throughout life especially on mother’s day. One relationship which is always with us is the one we share with our mothers. They are our guiding force and are responsible for making us who we are. Mothers also shape our lives and our personalities and crediting them for the same is something one should do at every opportunity. We might have our own individualistic approach in paying tribute to these amazing people in our lives, our mothers.

“When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.”- Sophia Loren"

Mother's Day is celebrated to honor mothers and express gratitude for the hardships they bear in bringing up a child. Mother's Day is a celebration honoring not only one's own mother but motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society as well. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. It complements similar celebrations honoring family members, such as Father's Day and Siblings Day

History of Mother’s day:

The modern American holiday of Mother's Day was first celebrated in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother in Grafton, West Virginia. Her campaign to make "Mother's Day" a recognized holiday in the United States began in 1905, the year her beloved mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, died. Anna’s mission was to honor her own mother by continuing work she had started and to set aside a day to honor mothers, "the person who has done more for you than anyone in the world." Anna's mother, Ann Jarvis, was a peace activist who had cared for wounded soldiers on both sides of the Civil War and created Mother’s Day Work Clubs to address public health issues.

Due to the campaign efforts of Anna Jarvis, several states officially recognized Mother's Day, the first in 1910 being West Virginia, Jarvis’ home state. In 1914 Woodrow Wilson signed the proclamation creating Mother’s Day, the second Sunday in May, as a national holiday to honor mothers

Mother’s Day Celebrations worldwide:
Mother’s day is now a day celebrated with full zest and as an occasional honor. Media channels celebrate it with special shows. Individuals honor their mothers by giving gifts and commemorative articles. Individuals who have lost their mothers pray and pay their respects to their loved ones lost. Schools hold special programs in order to acknowledge the efforts of their mothers.

Common practices include treating mothers and mother-figures to meals out, strolling in a park or shopping at malls, or giving mother’s time to pamper themselves. Most families celebrate at home, with children doing household chores that the mother routinely handles such as preparing food, or giving mothers small handcrafted tokens such as cards.

For many people in the Pakistan, Mother's Day is now the time of year to celebrate and buy gifts of chocolate or flowers for their mothers as a way to thank them for all they do throughout the year. I use to   send flowers to Mirpur on every mother’s day. The fact is that you should gift the thing which is really loved by your mother and make her smile. Why not delight your mom with mother’s day flowers, whose fragrance and freshness will bring a priceless smile on her face. A simple gesture of giving mother's day flowers to the most special woman in your life signifies love and respect to her. Sending mother’s day flowers and gift is not only the tradition but also a loving gesture to show you care. The fragrance of the flower has the power to show deepest feeling of attachment and sincerity. There is no other thing in the world that signifies the feelings so correctly other than flowers.
